Conferences

Australia India Institute’s international conferences are flagship events spread over two or three days. They bring together leading experts from across the world on a theme of academic and policy importance. In September 2011, a conference on the theme The Reluctant Superpower: Understanding India and its Aspirations was held in Melbourne. In December 2011, the AII, in partnership with the University of Calcutta, hosted the conference on The Asian Century: Security, Society and Sustainability in Kolkata. AII’s third international conference The Argumentative Indian: Critical Debates in the World’s Largest Democracy & Perspectives from Australia was held in 2012, and in 2013 the A.I.I convened an impressive line-up for "Gondwanalandings: Voices of the Emerging Indian Diaspora in Australia".
