Sustainable Water Management: Challenges in India
Dr. K. P. Sudheer is a Professor and Head of the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Division of the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai. He currently leads a group focusing on research applications of modern computing tools to water resources analysis and hydrologic modelling. He obtained his Bachelors (Agricultural Engineering) from Kerala Agricultural University in 1991. Further, he received his Masters from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 1994, and his Doctorate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2000.
Prior to joining the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2003, he was associated with the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee for six years. He has conducted excellent pioneering research in the area of hydrology and water resources engineering. As a part of active research collaborations he is associated with various international universities where he is undertaking regular scientific visits for the advancement of scientific activities. He has been an International Faculty Scholar in the Erasmus Mundus Program on Eco-hydrology, Portugal.
