A Mahatma For All Seasons

29 August 2013
Interest in India's founding father Mahatma Gandhi is as strong as ever.

ABC Radio's Trevor Chappell invited A.I.I's Christopher Kremmer onto his program this week to discuss Gandhi's life and enduring legacy.

Dr Kremmer gave a sweeping account of the decisive moments in the life of a man considered perhaps the greatest single individual of the 20th century, one who has influenced succeeding generations of Freedom Fighters, including Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.

Dr Kremmer, whose book Inhaling the Mahatma follows India's path from Gandhian values to today's status as a global economic and nuclear power, also highlights the key role that media coverage played in Gandhi's success in winning freedom from foreign rule.
