The Promise of US-India Ties

23 September 2013

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and American President Barack Obama have chosen a tumultuous time to meet and discuss US-India ties, A.I.I fellow Rory Medcalf wrote in influential American publication The National Interest today.

With both countries suffering difficult periods economically, and both leaders facing credibility deficits, Medcalf urges both leaders to proceed with care to build a relationship that is important to Indians.

Results from the India Poll 2013, published by the Australia India Institute and Lowy Institute earlier this year, showed that most Indians feel positively about US-India relations and want them to grow stronger.
